I know that this is a lot of information and will take a few minutes to read, but getting a Poovanese is a 13-15 year commitment, and I want to be sure you are fully informed before you commit to your furever friend! As the owner, you are responsible for providing your puppy with a safe, loving environment, and standard care. I suggest taking time to consider whether you are prepared for the vet fees, grooming fees, training costs and overall puppy maintenance that is entailed in giving a puppy a good home before deciding if one of my puppies is right for you.
Terms and Conditions of Placing a Deposit:
Please take time to read these conditions thoroughly, as they will answer many questions you may have later. Terms and Conditions are broken down into 5 categories, so if you have a specific question later on you can often easily find an answer by looking at the category that would cover it.
The categories are: 1) Before the litter Is born 2) Puppies are on the ground 3) Picking your puppy 4) Pickup Day! Hip hip hooray! 5) Details of payment schedule.
1. Before the litter is born:
-If you are placing a deposit on a puppy before the litter is born, the time in which I receive your deposit holds your place in line to pick. I often have multiple people contacting me regarding puppies, and waiting once you have decided to put down a deposit could jeopardize your place in line to pick.
-I ask a $200 good faith deposit to secure your spot to choose in the litter of your choice. Your deposit must be paid via Venmo or Paypal. You are responsible for paying the PayPal fees if you choose to utilize PayPal. Your spot in line to pick your puppy is based on the sex of the puppy, so you must decide which sex you want before placing your deposit. This deposit, which holds your position for the litter, is completely nonrefundable, unless I fail to produce a puppy of the correct sex, and you do not wish to move your deposit to the opposite sex (if there are any available to switch to). Under these circumstances only, you will be given the option of a full refund of your deposit amount, or in certain cases, you may be able to move your deposit over to the next available litter. You can only move your deposit one litter over from the original litter; if I provide a puppy of your desired sex and you do not chose from that litter, then your deposit will expire and will not be eligible for refund.
-Upon receiving your deposit, I will need a first and secondary contact method (Cell phone, home or work phone, and/or email) which I will include in my records book. I will record your name, contact information, position to pick and any delivery quotes previously discussed. Once recorded, I will take a picture and send it to you as confirmation.
-Now we sit back and wait for the puppy magic to happen! Once your chosen mama shows signs of imminent labor, I will text out an update on how mama is doing and let you know once labor has started in earnest. Once the puppies arrive, I send out another message letting everyone know the puppies are here and how many we have!
2. Puppies are on the ground:
-Yay! The puppies are here! I like to give mama and puppies a few days to adjust and bond before I start getting too involved. I typically take a nonintrusive group photo, on day 2 or 3, of the puppies with their mama and send it out so that everyone can see them.
-On/around* their birth day for week 1-3, I will send out a short group video each week.
-A few days before their Week 4 birth day, I will send out 2 photo collages- one of the boys and one of the girls, showing each puppy individually, as well as a short group video.
-On Week 4 birth day, it is time to choose your puppy!
-On/around* Weeks 5-7 birth days, I will send an individual video of your chosen puppy!
*I do try to send out birth day pictures and videos on the weekday on which they were born (If they are born in a Wednesday, updates will typically be every Wednesday) however, life does sometimes get in the way and occasionally I will send updates a few days early or a few days late. But don’t worry – you will still get an update!
3. Picking your puppy:
Please note: Once your puppy has been picked, if you back out of the sale for any reason, your deposit will not be returned and you will not be eligible to move to a different litter.
-First pick is welcome to choose their puppy at any time before 4 weeks, 4 weeks is just the maximum amount of time you can take to choose. If first pick choses their puppy early, I wait 24 hours and then double check with them just to be sure, because once a puppy is chosen that means I will let the next deposit holder in line pick, so there are no take-backs after that 24 hour holding time. If first pick is still positive that that is the puppy they want after the 24 hour hold time, I let second pick know, and they are then free to choose their puppy as well, or wait until 4 weeks, and so on down the list.
Please note: You absolutely do not have to chose a puppy early, even if the person ahead of you has chosen and we know which puppies are available for you to choose from, you still have from between that point and your original choosing date to make your decision.
-Other than the early picking circumstances described above, puppy picking starts the day the puppies turn 4 weeks old. At that time, I will send out a short group video to everyone. I will then send out 2 photo collages- one of the boys and one of the girls, showing each puppy individually, as well as a short group video to the First Pick deposit holders (or whoever’s turn it is to choose). Choosing times are 10am-10am, so you will have 24 hours to make your decision, then the next pick will have 24 hours to choose, and so on down the line. I prefer to wait until 4 weeks so that their coloring and personality has time to show, but I do limit the time after their turning 4 weeks of age to 24 hours per pick, because once everyone has picked, if there are any other puppies available, I want the most time possible to advertise and screen perspective homes for them, to ensure they go to homes as excellent and loving as yours!
-We are happy to have you come to the farm to pick out your puppy if you are able! When the litter is born and I know what your 4 week old choosing date is, I will let you know and we can arrange a time if you are available on that day! If you are unable to come that specific day, you are welcome to arrange to come a few days early to meet them in person, at my discretion. Any in person picking or meeting of the pups MUST be arranged at least 3 weeks prior to the date you are wanting to come out! (Note: We strive to keep our pups in peak health so that they are 110% ready to go home to you! To that end, it is expected of you to guarantee that on the day you come see your puppy, you will be in clean clothes that have not had contact with ANY other animals, and we will provide booties for your shoes which you must put on before exiting your vehicle. We don’t ask this to be rude, but our puppies health (and soon to be your puppies health!) is of upmost importance to us, as I am sure it is to you. If you are unable or unwilling to ensure that you won’t be bringing in any outside contaminants, we ask that you do not come.)
-If you are not able to come, we totally understand that as well, and no worries! When it is your turn to pick, as described above, I will send individual videos of each puppy that is available, and we can also call or Facetime to have a final update/discussion of their personalities to ensure we pick the right puppy for your home!
-Once your puppy has been picked, I will send out an individual video of your puppy to you on its 5th-7th week birthdays, and before we know it, it will be headed home to you!
4. Pickup Day! Hip hip hooray!
As a breeder, I do limit my selling range because I am very picky about my puppies safety when it comes to travel. I do not allow any owners to cargo ship their puppy (below deck on a plane is freezing, noisy, and terrifying for such a small puppy and not worth the savings), nor do I allow commercial van transport companies (there is no way of knowing whether any of the other animals, stacked in crates like cordwood, are healthy or not. In addition to often taking 5-7 days to complete a route, meaning your puppy could be in its crate with limited time out/food and water access, your puppy could also easily contract Parvo or any number of illnesses from the animals above or next to it). That being said, there are still lots of good options!
If you are unable to come all the way out to the house to pick up your puppy, for an additional fee we offer:
Full Delivery; we drive your puppy from our door to your hometown.
Halfway Delivery; we choose and agree upon a halfway meeting point.
Flight Nanny; you simply meet your flight nanny at the airport, pick up your puppy and head home to the snuggles!
-We always have multiple puppies, multiple families, and our own schedule to accommodate, so we do ask you to work with us in a timely fashion to set pickup or delivery dates. We will do our very best to accommodate you, but a final delivery/pickup plan must be made and committed to by the time the puppies are 4 weeks old. This is to ensure that everyone involved has plenty of time to take off of work or make whatever arrangements they need to ensure that we can all meet at the time and place agreed to.
-You are always welcome to come to Ava to pick up your own puppy! As we are often doing deliveries during pickup time, it is essential that you get a date and time set with us as soon as possible to ensure that we have someone here to meet you with your puppy if we are gone, or to be able to arrange our delivery plans around your pickup time so that we can be here to meet you, if possible. All delivery/pickup dates must be set by the time the puppies turn 4 weeks old. If you are picking up your own puppy, you are responsible for meeting us at the place and time that we both agree to. Once your pickup date and time is chosen, it is unalterable. Any changes you would like to make to your pickup date/time after you have committed to a specific date/time are entirely up to our discretion, at our convenience, and may result in an additional charge. We always strive to be as flexible as possible, but cannot make any guarantees.
-If we are delivering your puppy, whether full or partial delivery, you are responsible for meeting us at the place and time that we both agree to. Once your delivery date and time is chosen, it is unalterable. Any changes you would like to make to delivery (ex: if you wish to change to full delivery instead of partial delivery) are entirely up to our discretion, at our convenience, and will be an additional charge. As stated, we will do our best to accommodate you, but as we often have multiple stops on these deliveries, changes to the plan may not be feasible. This is why we set our delivery route very early, to leave plenty of time for taking off of work and making necessary travel arrangements.
-Flight Nanny option; Myself, my husband, my retired father, and two of my siblings have flown our puppies all over the country to their new owners. I used to utilize professional flight nannies that I had taken the time to vet and meet personally, but found that while they were excellent with the puppies, they were not always reliable. After the second time of having one back out unexpectedly the day before the flight, I decided to see if my family would be interested in helping, as I know they are both responsible and reliable! It has been great
If my husband or myself are not available, I check with my father, sister and brother to see who is available on your puppies go home date!
-You can also be your own flight nanny! If you live far away and it makes more sense timing or money-wise for you to fly in personally to get your puppy than to utilize any of the other options, our local airport is code SGF, and I will simply meet you there with your puppy, help you check them in and get you on your way.
5. Details of Payment Schedule:
-We highly recommend sending your deposit immediately, once you have made the decision that you want to get one of my puppies. Waiting to place your deposit could jeopardize your spot to pick. When I send my payment link, I include a reminder that if you wait more than 30 minutes to place your deposit, you must contact me to ensure that your place to choose is still available. Deposits may be paid via Venmo or PayPal. You are responsible for paying the PayPal fees if you choose to utilize PayPal.
-PayPal Fees: We completely understand if you prefer to utilize PayPals payment protection plan; however, you must pay that fee as it is for your own protection and not ours. When your deposit link is sent to you, it will include both the price to send with their Friends and Family option, always $200 even, and then the amount you need to send if you do not use that option. Whether you choose to utilize that option or not is entirely up to your discretion. If you do not specifically choose Friends and Family, PayPal will automatically add the payment protection to your purchase. It will look like the same $200 on your end, but on my end it will be less than $200. PayPal fluctuates its fees regularly, so I always check for the most current rate before calculating the percentage and sending you the total.
-Full Delivery and Partial Delivery fees must be paid at least 1 week in advance of the set delivery date, however you are welcome to pay them any time before then if you prefer. We ask that it be sent at least a week out, as it can take PayPal and Venmo up to a week to process sometimes. I will text you a reminder two weeks out, and a few days before it is due. Delivery fees are nonrefundable if you fail to show up to pick up your puppy. Failure to pay your delivery fee in a timely manner may result in forfeiture of your deposit and your puppy. Deliveries fees may be paid via Venmo or PayPal. You are responsible for paying the PayPal fees if you choose to utilize PayPal.
-Flight Nanny flight fees are due in full once this option has been chosen and a flight delivery time is agreed upon. Due to the price of last minute tickets, as soon as you have made the decision that you will need a flight nanny, the flight + puppy ticket portion of the fee will be due immediately, and the flight will not be booked until payment is received. Flight Nanny quotes are only good for 24 hours from the time I quote you, as flight prices fluctuate daily. The remainder of your Flight Nanny fee will be due 2 weeks before the flight date, or in cash at pickup, depending on who will be meeting you with your puppy. Flight Nanny fees may be paid via Venmo or PayPal. You are responsible for paying the PayPal fees if you choose to utilize PayPal.
-The remaining balance of your puppy (and balance on delivery, if there is any) is due, in cash, at pickup. Unfortunately, due to scams, we have a strict policy of not allowing any form of checks, personal or otherwise, nor any other form of payment other than cash. This means if you show up to get your puppy planning on using PayPal or Venmo for your balance, you will not be picking up your puppy that day unless there is an ATM available for you to use.
-Other than the Flight Nanny exception, your puppy balance will be due in cash at pickup without exception.
Please don’t hesitate to reach out if you have any questions on our process. I can’t wait to connect you with your new furever friend!
